Blooms That Brighten

Yesterday I joined a team of volunteers at Strawberry Fields Florist to create lovely floral arrangements for a local non-profit organization. Using flowers donated from local businesses and other resources Blooms That Brighten, Inc. volunteers create and deliver these beautiful floral arrangements free of charge to the delight and surprise of residents of Hospice House and continuing care communities. A recent study by Nancy Etcoff, Ph.D. of Harvard Medical School found that "...people feel more compassionate toward others, have less worry and anxiety and feel less depressed when fresh-cut flowers are in their home." It only took a couple of hours of my time, the florals were simple to make and I made some new friends. Please contact them if you would also like to be part of this wonderful and worthwhile opportunity by donating your time, talent or treasure.
